cycles of chronic pain

People living with chronic pain often compare their lives to a roller coaster ride I know I do too. Good days and bad days . Pain fluctuates  but also has no boundaries . When your in pain its part of you and your whole body reacts.
As you try to understand, accept and mange the best you can emotions go through a series of ups and downs . Often cause behavioural and emotional changes follow a predictable pattern.

One of the things that I first noticed and many do that it brings change to your day to day activities . Regular things become more difficult sometimes impossible. Because of pain just  cleaning house or moving upstairs to down or visa versa seems impossible so you le things build up and constant reminders of what you used to be able to do.  I have found personally its hard to ask others to help  as just watching them doing what you used t o be able starts to make you  feel really low.

Then that day comes when the pain is at a low and you start running round doing all the things you couldn’t and catch up  on things usually doing a weeks worth of things in a few  small hours. Then the day after you pay the price and you feel worse then ever and spend the next few days getting over  your latest pain flare.
Which in itself then adds to the problems cause  of having to rest again your stamina is getting less and u fatigue sets in  and you find yourself spending more and more time alone and less with the ones you love. Friends stop calling cause you have to keep letting them  down and they don’t want to put any pressure on you by inviting you to things that you may not be able to make.

When you are in pain some of us have and give off signs i.e. staying in bed, talking about it, withdrawing and protecting where it hurts,     The people around you also present behaviours  you have the stop being silly and get on with It and the over protective . Being in pain also consumes a lot of energy which also doesn't help.
